NEWSFLASH!
The 2011 NABBA/WFF Australian Championships has been relocated from the South Sydney Juniors Leagues Club to the Darwin Convention Centre. Due to opportunities and developments negotiated with Phil Primmer the Darwin promoter, the National Titles will combine with Phil's "Salt Water Classic Invitational". The competition date remains the same - Sunday October 16th at the Darwin Convention Centre. The IFBB are restricting NABBA athlete participation in their events. Coincidentally, the IFBB Nationals will be held on the same weekend in Sydney at the Cronulla Leagues Club, so it looks like a show-down between us and them.

SERGE NUBRET (AGE 72) DIED APRIL 19, 2011 R.I.P.
Born October 6, 1938 in Anse-Bertrand, north of Grande-Terre, Guadeloupe he was a French professional bodybuilder, movie actor and author. Serge was awarded many bodybuilding titles, including NABBA Mr Universe. Serge Nubret's nickname was "The Black Panther" and "The Nubret Lion."
Serge Nubret spent his first years in Anse-Bertrand in a community of 7,000 people before moving with his parents to Paris, France in 1950. He lived in the community of Joinville-le-Pont, completing his secondary studies before choosing a business program.
During his adolescence, he quickly became aware of his exceptional potential for athletics and recalls in his book I Am Me and God, dedicating himself to bodybuilding was to become his "reason of being." He explains in his book his destiny of a fixed champion assigned to him by God. He returned in Guadeloupe in 1958 in order to escape the draft for the Algerian war. It was during this period of his life he discovered bodybuilding, which he practiced simultaneously while pursuing business accounting. Three months after entering the world of bodybuilding, Serge won the title of Mr Guadeloupe, which he won again the following year as well. Returning to Paris, he was contacted by the Films Ariane for a role in a Duccio Tessari Italian péplum film called "The Titans" which was released in 1961 and was prelude to a rich career of 25 films.

BARRY DOVE
It is with great sorrow that we inform the Bodybuilding community of the sudden death of our comrade Barry Dove.
Barry’s first contest was as a Junior in 1979 and maintained his passion for the iron-game until his untimely death. Barry died in a motor vehicle accident on 2 February 2011 on his way home from work. Our prayers and sincere condolences to his family.
